Top Tips for Keeping Your Kitchen Organized

Sick of finding out-of-date food at the back of your kitchen cupboards? Are there old pots and pans that should have been replaced a while ago? Do you always struggle to find your tea bags or a particular jar of spice or herb when you’re making dinner? Well, if this sounds at all familiar, it might be time to think about reorganizing your kitchen for safer, more efficient use when it comes to meal preparation or just to help you figure out what groceries you need. Here are a few tips that you might find useful when doing this.

Regular Clear Outs

The best way to keep your kitchen organized (and the rest of your home, for that matter) is by having regular clearouts. It’s easy to gather clutter over the months, so at least once a year, go through your kitchen and get rid of broken utensils, chipped cups, and/or glasses, and get rid of anything that has gone out of date. The less you have taking up space in your kitchen cupboards, the easier they will be to clean more regularly, and the less likely you will waste food that gets forgotten about.

Tupperware and Storage Jars

It’s easy to rip bags of pasta or rice, spilling the contents everywhere. Rather than cleaning up these kinds of spills every time you try to open the bag, putting pasta, rice, lentils, etc., into Tupperware containers or storage jars could be a good idea. The latter can be found on rinkit.com and can help to add a homey, country-style look to your kitchen as well. Using these sorts of containers for your dried goods will help to keep them fresher for longer and keep your kitchen neater.

Label Things

If you are going to use Tupperware and storage jars, it is worthwhile labelling what is inside them, especially if they aren’t transparent. Even if they are, if you are storing tea leaves or spices, or other things that look very similar to one another, labelling them will make it much easier to figure out which is which and reduces your chance of making a mistake when cooking.

Get a Spice Rack

Spices can take up a lot of space, especially if you’re someone who does a lot of cooking and likes to experiment with different recipes. Having a spice rack put up on your kitchen wall can help to clear space in your kitchen cupboards, but it will also help the room look better as well. You’ll also find it will be much quicker and easier to find the spices and herbs that you need for whatever dish you’re preparing.

Keep Kitchenware Together

Finally, if you don’t do this already, make sure you keep your kitchenware grouped. For example, saucepans, frying pans, and casserole dishes can all be placed in one cupboard. Then your baking equipment like mixing bowls, measuring jugs, scales can be in another. Plates, bowls, cups, and glasses would also make sense in being stored together. Again, this will make it much easier to find whatever it is you need when it comes to meal preparation.

If you think your kitchen is currently in a state of disarray, use these tips to help reorganize it and make it a more efficient space for you to cook up a storm.
